The Social Work Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University held its 2025-2026 Fall Semester "Student-Alumni Meeting" on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Following the opening remarks by Res. Asst. Merve İbrahimoğlu, who moderated the talk, Social Work Specialist Binnur Gizem TOKER, a graduate of Ondokuz Mayıs University's Department of Social Work, shared her journey from student to professional life, her undergraduate and graduate studies, and her current doctoral studies, along with her experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
Toker shared her experiences working at a private elderly care center in the field of aging with the students and offered suggestions to broaden students' perspectives on the private sector, as well as the public sector, of the social work profession.
In addition to her professional experience, Toker shared her own experiences with the students regarding the ongoing application process for becoming a social worker in the UK. She provided them with valuable information about visa procedures, diploma equivalence, certification processes, and other aspects of working and being employed as a social worker not only in Türkiye but also in other countries.
Binnur Gizem TOKER concluded her speech by expressing her pleasure at participating in this event that brought together students and alumni.
