HISTORY
In our country, the profession of Speech and Language Therapy has been defined as a healthcare profession on a legal basis with legal regulations. Following the legal regulations, the description of profession and SLTs as healthcare professionals were also made. Description of the Speech and Language Therapy Profession Speech and Language Therapist • Takes part in preventive programs in the field of communication, language, speech, voice and swallowing health. • Works to raise awareness of risk factors that may cause voice, speech and language disorders in society and individuals. • Performs therapy and rehabilitation in cases included in Supplement1 / B. • Makes and implements the evaluation, therapy and rehabilitation planning of the patients with language, speech, voice and swallowing pathology referred by the physician. • Provides training to the patient about alternative and communication-supportive auxiliary tools / devices such as computer-aided speech devices, tracheoesophageal prostheses and similar speech apparatus, electrolarynx, communication boards, and unaided systems such as gesture sign language. • Takes part in individualized training programs for those with special needs. Education for undergraduate level began in the fall semester of 2019-2020 academic year.
GENERAL FEATURES AND PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
Within the scope of the program; The Speech and Language Therapy department includes both theoretical and clinical training. Following the theoretical courses, applied clinical studies are carried out. The student should be able to collaborate with experts from different disciplines by using the expert-level theoretical and applied knowledge they have acquired. The student should be able to examine scientific methods and techniques and make researches using these techniques. The student should gain the ability to interpret, evaluate, analyze the data obtained and develop evidence-based solutions. He / she should be able to evaluate language and speech functions using the technical equipment, devices and tools required in the intervention process. In addition, the student should be made aware of raising social awareness about the profession of Speech and Language Therapy.
MISSION
To train Speech and Language Therapists that have high levels of theoretical and clinical knowledge within the framework of the international standards of the profession; have an interdisciplinary perspective; who are respectful to the profession; and are able to apply their current knowledge in the most accurate way by reasoning within the framework of the problems they encounter.
VISION
To be a program that has a voice in both national and international platforms by acting with a scientific perspective that trains competent experts who can meet the needs of individuals who need Speech and Language Therapy services at a high level.

Speech and Language Therapists can provide services in many areas in our country. Preschool education institutions, private clinic and rehabilitation centers, guidance research centers, universities, public/state hospitals, private hospitals, military hospitals, schools, elderly care centers are among the institutions where they can be employed.

Graduates who complete this program receive the title of "Speech and Language Therapy Specialist". The main objective of the Master's Program in Speech and Language Therapy is to train speech and language therapists who have a role in the realization of the planned goals with their services in the field of health and rehabilitation. In the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, the master's program with thesis have started to accept students. Individuals must have a BA degree in Speech and Language Therapy in order to apply for the Master of Science Program in Speech and Language Therapy. In addition, they must meet the criteria set by our university in the fields of ALES exam- numeric score, foreign language scores and undergraduate graduation averages.

2- In the field of language and speech disorders, treats individuals without discrimination in terms of language, religion and race in the evaluation and intervention processes.
3- Applies the knowledge and skills gained in the field of language and speech disorders in line with ethical principles in the evaluation and intervention process, and decides the course of the process.
4- Knows how to make differential diagnosis, establish and apply therapy programs in assessment and intervention processes in the field of language and speech disorders.
5- Has the ability to use the necessary equipment in assessment and intervention processes in the field of language and speech disorders.
6- Uses theoretical and applied information about language and speech disorders in evaluation and intervention processes.
7- In line with the knowledge and experience gained in the field of language and speech disorders, works independently or in cooperation with related professional groups in the professional / academic field.
8- Follows up-to-date scientific resources towards language and speech disorders.
9- Provides services to prevent language and speech disorders and to protect public health, and contributes to the production of health policies for these services.
10- Provides counseling to the families / relatives of individuals who need counseling in the field of language and speech disorders, and organizes trainings for their families / relatives.
11- Keeps records and prepares reports during the evaluation and intervention processes in the field of language and speech disorders.
